Legendary American Producer and So So Def Records boss, Jermaine Dupri has said that artists who’ve turned down invitations to perform at the NFL Super Bowl, have it all wrong … because they missed out on an opportunity to promote their cause on the biggest stage.

Stars like Jay-Z and Rihanna have turned down successive Super Bowl halftime shows with Jigga telling the NFL to kick rocks last year, all because of the league’s treatment of Colin Kaepernick whose protest of racial injustice against black people in America by way kneeling during the National anthem got widespread reactions all over the world.

As the next Super Bowl makes it’s way to Dupri’s home state of Atlanta, the rapper who spoke with TMZ Sports said he thinks the platform of the Super Bowl is more valuable than a boycott.

“Boycotts and marches don’t seem like they work to me, I’m sorry. I think they should send a message while they’re onstage, take advantage of your platform.”

Dupri says while it’s totally cool NOT to do the Super Bowl in protest as well, further conversation using the platform would do more good than ignoring it.

“The more people speak on it, the more they talk about it, then the more people feel like it’s something they have to address. I feel like people ignore boycotts,” Dupri concluded.
