President Muhamamdu Buhari, has assured that October 1 will be peaceful, adding that, he has put in place security measures to guarantee the safety of lives and property.
Recall, that there has been palpable tension for all Igbos residing in the North, as a result of the quit order notice issued by the Arewa Youths. The eventual withdrawal of the order which later took place did not however douse the tension.
Buhari made this disclosure through the Minister of Interior, retired Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, as he prepares to depart to the United States of America, on Sunday.
Dambazau who stated this in the Plateau State Government House, said: “Measures have been put in place, the security agencies know precisely what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. We have the intelligence community that feeds information into the system, so I want to guarantee you that nothing extraordinary will happen. Even those who issued the October 1 quit notice have withdrawn it.”
The Minister added that the essence of the Operation Python Dance II, was not to intimidate or harass anybody, but to ensure that law-abiding citizens are protected.
