Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi.

The police in Kebbi are investigating the murder of a housewife, Balkisu Zayyanu, 27, and her three-year-old daughter, Hadiza Zayyanu, in Dole-Kaina in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the development to newsmen on Friday in Birnin Kebbi.

Abubakar explained that the housewife and her daughter, Hadiza, were found dead on Saturday by her husband, Malan Zayyanu, in his house after he came back from a trip.

“The housewife and her daughter were found killed by an unknown persons in her home while her husband was away on a trip to Tsamiya village.

“When the husband, Malan Zayyanu, returned late on the night of Friday, he decided not to disturb their sleep until the following morning.

“So, the next morning, he called out to her several times to open the door but there was no answer. Finally, he broke the door open and found his wife lying in a pool of her own blood alongside her three-year-old daughter also killed,” he said.

DSP Abubakar described the incident as unfortunate but emphasised that the police in Kebbi State were doing their best to fish out the criminals and bring them to justice.

“It’s really a very sad and condemnable act; the matter is being investigated to arrest the killers and find out the motive of killing those innocent people.”

The police spokesman added that no arrest was made yet but an investigation was going on to arrest the killers and bring them to book.
