Kwara ANRP governorship candidate pledges to reduce poverty

GOANRPVERNORSHIP candidate of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) in Kwara state, Dr Abdulmumin Ajia, has pledged to reduce prevailing poverty in the state to a lowest minimum level and lift residents to the middle class if voted into office in 2019 governorship election.

Speaking at the unveiling of his five-point manifesto and his deputy governorship candidate, Mr Samuel Adeleke, Ajia, a former special assistant to the former national chairman of PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, said that the five-point pillars include health, agriculture, education, housing and workforce development.

“The present situation whereby the economic potentials of the state are concentrated on an individual oligarchy would be dismantled so as to allow the people have access to the common wealth of Kwara”, he said.

He also said that both the human and natural potentials in the state would be tapped for the overall socio-economic benefit of the people.

“This election is a contest between distinct philosophies, each of which will take our state on fundamentally different directions.

“While, I embrace diversity and pledge to banish of the poverty level in the state, equal opportunity in our society, my opponents stand for an opportunistic agenda where godfatherism is all that matters and honesty, dedication to duty, respect for elders and hard work are jettisoned”, he said.

Ajia who said that his administration would empower youths, added that loans would be made available to them at zero digit so as to assist them develop quickly and thereby adding values to the economic development of the state.

He also said that health care delivery will be made available to the elderly and children between the ages of 0-5 through insurance scheme so as to make life more bearable to them.

He added that he would partner with unemployed and underemployed medical doctors in the state so as to bridge the gap in the delivery of good health care to the residents of the state.

Ajia who decried the poor state of education in the state said that his administration would revamp the education system in the state where every children would have access to quality and good academic environment for learning so as to boost the standard of education in the state.

He, therefore, said that food production would be improved through an agricultural revolution that will be undertaking for the teeming farmers in the state.
