A lawyer identified as Kayode Oshiyemi has been arrested by the men of the Ogun State Police Command over alleged extortion of money from a businessman, Alhaji Shakirudeen Olufowobi.

He was arrested alongside five others which include Sodiq Owolabi, Abolaji Adebola, Abolaji Alabi, Mukaila Abolaji and Adeborode Ogunlaja.

They were reported to have been arrested following a petition was written by the Olufowobi to the Command that the suspects were after his life.

The complaint in the petition was said to have reported that the legal practitioner had perfected plans to include his name in a case he knew nothing about when several attempts to collect money from him had yielded no result.

The lawyer was arrested based on the technical investigation conducted by the men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad under the leadership of SP Uba Adam while planning to forcibly collect a sum of N250 million from the businessman.

He was said to have been caught on tape while discussing how the money would be shared with his accomplices if the deal scale through.

Mukaila Abolaji told the Police upon interrogation that the lawyer lured him to be part of the fraudulent deal while Adebayo said he was once hired by Lawyer Oshiyemi to profess fake miracle during an open-air crusade organised by the lawyer’s pastor friend.

The lawyer was said to have not denied the allegations levelled against him.
