The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry has collaborated with the European Union to create links between the Small and Medium Enterprises and firms abroad seeking partners in Nigeria.

At a forum tagged ‘Enterprise Europe Network’, which took place in Lagos on Thursday, the LCCI and the economic delegation team from the EU taught the SMEs how to access the EU network and locate interested partners.

The forum had in attendance, the Consul General of Royal Danish Consulate in Lagos, Per Christensen; the Economic Counsellor, Embassy of France, Francis Widmer; the Head, Trade and Economic Section, EU Delegation to Nigeria, Fillipo Amato, among other members of the diplomatic corps.

According to the President of the LCCI, Dr. Nike Akande, the Enterprise Europe Network is a group of businesses established in Europe to promote trade between enterprises in Europe and the rest of the world.

She said, “The network helps the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises make the most of business opportunities in the EU and beyond while also offering a wide range of services to assist small businesses in the EU looking to enter the Nigerian market or for those already active in the country.

“The LCCI was admitted into the network in April 2016.”

She added that the Nigerian consortium of the network comprised four organisations, named as the Nigerian-Belgian Chamber of Commerce; the LCCI; the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture; and the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Akande said, “Together with our network colleagues abroad, we are able to leverage the network’s resources to offer our members personalised service suited for their business needs.

“The network specialises in market analysis, business partner search and many other support services to help the EU companies succeed in other countries.”
