ABAKALIKI — THE Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, weekend, said it doesn’t have confidence in the operations of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC, regarding the conduct of the forthcoming local government election scheduled for April 22 in the state.
The state chairman of the party, Mr Ben Nwobashi, stated this after paying familiarization visits to the state Director, Department of State Services, DSS, and Commissioner of Police, CP Titus Lamorde, in Abakaliki.
Nwobashi, who stressed that the party was still consulting to know whether it will participate in the forthcoming election or not, however, added that the party’s participation would enable it test the political waters in preparation for the 2019 general election.
He said: “We don’t have confidence in the EBSIEC. We are going through consultations to determine our participation in the election. It will enable us test the waters for 2019 election.”
Stressing on the unity of the party, National Coordinator, Initiative for Demonstrating Change in Nigeria, Chinedu Ogah, noted that the APC in the state was not divided as key stakeholders of the party had come together to strengthen and empower the party for victory at the polls.
