Wandel International Nigeria Limited, a member of Simba Group, has announced the introduction of long-lasting inverter batteries called inverlast.
It said in a statement that inverlast was unveiled at a dealers’ conference in Abuja.
According to the firm, the batteries use a tubular battery design, which reduces internal corrosion and extends the life of the battery and that they charge faster than existing ones because of the way the tubes are structured to store energy.
A representative of Simba Group, Mr. Rajneesh Gupta, was quoted in the statement as saying that the batteries had taken over the Indian inverter battery market.
He said, “At Simba, we have always been at the forefront of innovation and that is what has driven our success. We have invested in the infrastructure required to launch these batteries in Nigeria, so that our customers are able to derive the specific technological benefits and enjoy power.”
A senior official of Luminous India, Mr. Soamy Dixit, said that Luminous was by far the biggest player in the inverter segment in India and the brand of tubular batteries dominated the market due to its advanced technology and affordability.
“We manufacture our inverters in India, the biggest inverter market in the world where nearly the entire market uses tubular batteries now. This is because these batteries are designed specifically for inverter applications and the technology used allows it to last longer than the VRLA batteries, which are still in the Nigerian market,” he said.
A dealer, Mr. Hibbolitus Nzebube of Shobaz Electricals was quoted to have said that the performance of the batteries in the market and the testimony from many households had shown that Nigerians were really pleased with their quality.
