Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu

MINISTER of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbbonnaya Onu, has urged biomedical engineers and technologists to work to make Nigeria become a health tourism destination, where people from other parts of the world will come for patronage.

He made the call when the executive of the association paid him a working visit in his office in Abuja.

He expressed dismay at the rate at which Nigerians travel abroad in search of elusive health care delivery when Nigeria has what it takes to take care of their ailments.

According to him, Nigeria is endowed with enough biomedical resources and personnel that could make Nigeria a health tourism destination of note that would attract patronage from all over the world.

Earlier in his speech, Engineer Prince Mbah told the minister about the recent meeting of the World Biomedical Association held in Prague, Czech Republic which was attended by the association.

He added that the meeting looked at some issues affecting the biomedical engineering profession in Africa like networking, education, research and innovation and biomedical healthcare.
