The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council and Clarion Events have collaborated to organise the second edition of the Nigerian Manufacturing and Equipment Expo.
According to the organisers, the event will also incorporate the Nigerian Raw Materials Expo, adding that the three major events will be held in Lagos for three days later in the month.
Speaking during a press briefing to unveil the expo, the President, MAN, Dr. Frank Jacobs, said that the event targeting the Small and Medium Enterprises would equip operators with information on new skills, processes and ways of boosting their production output, reducing cost, improving product quality and manufacturing for new markets.
He said, “The 2016 edition of the Manufacturing and Equipment expo, no doubt, impacted greatly on the Nigerian economy as attested to by participants across various sectors of the economy.
“I have no doubt that this year’s edition will be better, especially as it was designed to be held simultaneously with the Nigerian Raw Materials Expo. The infusion of NIRAM Expo into the NME will afford exhibitors and visitors to the NME a rare opportunity of exposure to the entire manufacturing value chain, which will include machinery, equipment, financial services, professional consultancy and information on raw materials sourcing.
“There will be on display the latest models of manufacturing raw materials and the event will also provide opportunities for larger and medium-sized companies to retool their machinery and get information on local sources of raw materials.”
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of RMRDC, Dr. Hussaini Ibrahim, who was represented at the press briefing by the Director of Investment, Mrs. Zainab Hammanga, said that the NIRAM expo would provide a unique platform for the resources and raw materials’ producers to showcase their products and network with members of the organised private sector for the purpose of sustaining local procurement of available raw materials in line with the mandate of the council, which was to promote the development and utilisation of Nigeria’s natural resources.
She said, “NIRAM expo also promotes diversification of the economy in line with the agenda of the Federal Government by encouraging the growth and development of resource-based manufacturers from the SME sector, who are involved in the agricultural and mineral sectors and are expected to benefit from networking at the event.”
