Chairman of the NMGS Distinguished Lectureship Programme, Professor Sola Ojo who disclosed this in a statement, said the maiden NMGS Annual Lecture is slated for Tuesday, July 3rd, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The objective of the lecture, according to the statement, is to inform members of the public particularly government agencies, NGOs, private organisations and academic institutions on their roles in mitigating erosion in the coastal zone of Nigeria.

Ojo expressed optimism that the lecture, which was part of its core mandate and social responsibility to the society, will advance measures that will ensure protection and preservation of the environment.

The statement further disclosed that a Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering, Hilary Inyang will deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Scaling erosion processes and their possible control measures in the coastal zone of Nigeria.”

Inyang is the President and Founder, Global Institute for Sustainable Development, Advanced Analysis and Design (GISDAAD), Concord, North Carolina, USA and the former Vice Chancellor of the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), Palapye.
