JOSE MOURINHO is in Croatia to push forward the £35m signing of Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.
And Mourinho is determined to stop rival clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, from beating him to the signing of Perisic, 28.
The United manager’s trump card is his close relationship with Predrag Mijatovic, the Mr Fix-It of transfers in the Balkans.
Former Yugoslavia international Mijatovic became an agent after his playing career and then held the role of sporting director at Real Madrid for three years until 2009.
Since then Mijatovic has worked under the radar on a number of big transfers and is understood to be masterminding the deal for Perisic.
The versatile Croatian can play as a winger, second striker or attacking midfielder and is said to have set his heart on a move to United.
Perisic recently split with his long-term agent, and it is believed middlemen Pini Zahavi and Fali Ramadani are working to make the United deal happen.
