The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed a detachment of Special Forces personnel to Kaduna in support of internal security operations in the State.

This was communicated in a statement released by the Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, on Monday.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Sunday in a press release, 28 October 2018, deployed a detachment of Special Forces personnel to Kaduna in support of Internal Security operations in the State,” Daramola said.

He said the detachment will join other NAF personnel in Kaduna and sister security agencies to ensure that the spate of killings in some parts of the state is brought to a complete end and normalcy expeditiously restored.

“The deployment is in addition to the earlier deployment of 2 helicopters and a DA-42 Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft on 22 October 2018, which have since been conducting aerial patrols over flashpoints in the State”, the statement added.

The deployment of troops came days after 55 people were killed in a communal crisis is the state while a traditional ruler, Agom Adara Maiwada Galadima, a chief and village head in the area, was also kidnapped and murdered three days after his abduction.

As a result of the rising violence, the state government announced the reinstatement of the 24-hour curfew earlier relaxed in some of the affected areas.

The state government on Sunday relaxed the curfew in Kaduna metropolis and environs after considerable peace has returned to the city.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, said this in a statement on Sunday in Kaduna.

Aruwan said residents could now move around until 5:00 pm, adding that the prevailing peace had encouraged the authority to relax the curfew on Monday between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm.
