New Zealand: FG condemns terrorists attack

The Federal government has condemned the terrorists attack on two mosques in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in a statement in Abuja by the spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, George, Ehidiamen Edokpa, regretted the barbaric and vicious acts carried out on innocent citizens in places of worship.

Onyeama said Nigeria stands in solidarity with New Zealand in their time of grief and fully supports the prosecution of the perpetrators of the heinous crime to the fullest extent of the law.

“The Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on behalf of the Federal government of Nigeria, has condemned the terrorist attack on the two places of worship in the city of Christchurch in New Zealand.

“The attacks which took place during Jumat prayers on Friday, March 15, 2019, killed over 40 Muslim worshippers and injured many others.

“The minister regretted the barbaric and vicious acts unleashed against innocent worshippers and stated that Nigeria stands in solidarity with New Zealand in their time of grief and fully supports the prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous crime to the fullest extent of the law,” Edokpa said.

Onyeama further condoled the government and the people of New Zealand and prayed for God to grant the families of the victims, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and wished the injured speedy recovery.
