A Chartered Administrator, Mr. Steve Akoni has blamed current leadership challenge in the country to failure to appoint competent people into leadership positions.

He spoke at a seminar titled “Leadership and Team Cohesion” organised by De Norsemen Kclub Lagos Chapter.

Akoni said: “Our leadership challenge is because we are breaking basic foundational principles. The knowledge is there in the nation but it is not coordinated. For instance, there are people who run big organizations but their expertise is not being brought to the national fore. We are not gaining from their expertise to run our nation.

“Because we have a peculiar structure of a federal state, we need people who are strong in influencing people that will coordinate everyone so that everybody aligns and agrees that these are our corporate trust and statement. What we have in Nigeria is a disintegrated  practice of leadership principles, we don’t have a central coordination.”

Also, Coordinator, Lagos State Chapter of De Norsemen Kclub Incorporated, DNKI, Mr. Jubril Babatude, said that it is imperative for leaders to understand what leadership entails, saying: “We have put this seminar together because we found that it is important for our members to understand what leadership entails. When you have followers and you don’t understand what leadership is, your idea and plans will not sink well.”
