Following his declaration as the validly elected candidate by the INEC Returning Officer, Ojerinde, amid wild jubilations, maintained that his victory in the election was an endorsement for progressive politics, saying it was the first time the progressives would win all 10 wards in Oorelope Local Government.

Ojerinde, aged 35, is the youngest elected member of the House of Representatives in the history of the constituency.
