A nutrition firm, Novus Nutrition Products Africa, has celebrated the 2017 World Egg Day by highlighting the benefits of eating eggs.
The firm, which promised to continue to support egg producers, in a statement released on Thursday, said that eggs remains one of the highest quality protein sources around, offering many health benefits including more than 13 essential vitamins.
The statement read in part, “We at Novus consider it a privilege to support such a sustainable food source while assisting in educating Africans on the benefits and importance of eggs.
“Our commitment to support Word Egg Day and egg producers is a reflection of our vision to help feed the world with affordable, wholesome food and achieve a higher quality of life.”
It also stated, “Health organisations around the world are actively encouraging people to eat more eggs to ensure that they benefit from nature’s natural vitamin pill. The Australian Heart Foundation recommends that people eat six eggs a week. In Canada, eggs carry the country’s health check mark, and the Irish Heart Foundation has coined the phrase, ‘An egg a day is OK’.
“Friday October 13th is World Egg Day, when events are held around the world to celebrate the egg and the incredible role it plays in people’s diets.”
The Director, Lifeline Laboratory, Angeli Misra, was also quoted in a report by Indian Times on Thursday as saying, “Research has proved that, as opposed to the previous beliefs, eggs are actually good for health. Researchers have looked at the diets of people, and they have suggested that consuming eggs every day is not associated with cholesterol problems or heart disease.”
It also reported the Senior Nutritionist and Wellness Consultant, Healthians,Saumya Satakshi, as saying, “Eggs are low in saturated fat and they have no trans-fat.”
