An early morning tweet by the New York Times concerning President Muhammadu Buhari’s Monday announcement of his re-election bid, has pitted Nigerians against one another.

The tweet, put up at 6:40am American time, riled some Nigerians who felt that the Western media doesn’t see any positive thing to report about Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.

Other respondents however expressed concerns about Nigeria’s current state, wondering if Buhari is up to the task.

The tweet, which has so far received 58 comments, 508 retweets and 175 likes shows divided opinion about the President’s 2019 bid.
