The Ogba (strong man)of Orogun Kingdom, Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota and Orogun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, has assured the people of Orogun Kingdom of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s continued patronage.
The legal luminary who often refers to Governor Okowa as ‘the road master’ gave the assurance in his address during an enlarged PDP meeting of Ughelli North hosted by him at his Otorho-Orogun residence in Ughelli North,’ disclosing that the governor would soon direct the ministry of works to mobilize to Orogun and commence work. He called on all Orogun people to see the re-election of Governor Okowa in 2019 as a task that must be accomplished, assuring that projects such as the Obodeti-Eboh-Arhagba Road, Ring Road, Imodje- Otorho-Abbi Road,Stadium, amongst other projects will be given adequate attention.
Others who also canvassed for the re-election of Okowa, include; the local government party chairman, Hon. Lawrence Agbatutu, member representing Ughelli North Constituency 1 at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Johnbull Mariere, Orogun Ward 1 PDP chairman, Comrade Ochuko Ogeh, Special Adviser to Governor Okowa, Chief David Ighovoja, among others.
The event witnessed the defection of over 500 members of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) drawn from all the wards in Orogun to PDP.
Chief Jemeresan Ovuoraevwie who spoke on behalf of the decampees, explained that they decided to defect to the PDP because APC neglected them after working for the party, lamenting that they were enticed on the promise of change and equal opportunities for all, but” the APC reneged on their promises ”
He also stated that they were motivated by the developmental strides of Governor Okowa and vowed to support his reelection bid in 2019.
Receiving the defected APC members, the Chairman of PDP in Ughelli North, Hon. Agbatutu commended them for their decision to defect to PDP as he noted that their defection to PDP, marks the death of APC in Ughelli North assuring them of level playing ground with other members of the party in the council area.
