Osinbajo, Ngige, APC mourn Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo

ABUJA—Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has expressed sadness over the death of Dr. Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo, a veteran journalist, playwright, academic and politician.

This came as the All Progressives Congress, APC, decried the inadequate policing of the nation’s highways, saying it has caused several avoidable deaths, the latest being that of Dr. Adinoyi-Ojo veteran journalist and front line member of the party.

Similarly, Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, expressed shock over the death of the former Managing Director of Daily Times, describing him as one of the finest in contemporary Nigerian journalism.

In a statement by his media aide, Mr. Laolu Akande, Osinbajo extended his condolences to Adinoyi-Ojo’s family, the government and people of Kogi State on the passing “of an illustrious son, who served the nation with distinction, notably as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Daily Times of Nigeria and Senior Special Assistant to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Public Communication.”

APC, on its part, spoke through its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, in a condolence letter to Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.

It read in part: “On behalf of myself and members of the National Working Committee, NWC, of All Progressives Congress, APC, let me convey our deep sadness and sympathies to the immediate family, people and government of Kogi State over the unfortunate and tragic death of one of our own, veteran journalists and front line member of APC, Dr. Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo.”

On his part, Ngige, in a statement in Abuja through his Special Assistant, Media, Nwachukwu Obidiwe, said Nigeria would miss Onukaba’s quintessential career as a journalist, journalism teacher and playwright.
