The Osun State Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker Hon Najeem Salam, has passed the Regulation of Sand Dealing and Dredging Operation Bill, 2018 into Law.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, disclosing this in a release, said, the bill which was an Executive Bill was introduced to the Assembly last year by the Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The bill was then committed to the House Committee on Environment and Sanitation after the first and second reading for further scrutiny.
According to the statement, considering and accepting the recommendations of the Committee at the plenary on Monday, the Deputy Majority Leader, Dejo Bello moved a motion for the bill to be read the third time leading to its passage into Law as seconded by Akinloye Ajibola.

The Speaker who pointed that the state has a lot to gain from the Bill when assented to by the governor urged all the relevant law enforcement agencies to be alive to their responsibilities in making the law work as it will increase the state’s IGR among other immense benefits.
Also, the House read the State of Osun Independent Electoral Commission Bill, 2018 after a motion moved by Dejo Bello and seconded by Wasiu Adebayo.
The Bill was however committed to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for further scrutiny and the report is expected back in a week’s time.
