Osun re-run: Saraki, Omisore meet, agree to work together

The President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki has met with the Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the SDP candidate in Saturday’s Governorship election in Osun state declared inconclusive.

Omisore a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored the third highest number of votes, hosted Saraki in him home in Osun state.

According to series of tweets on the social media handle of Saraki, he said that the meeting was a fruitful one and he and Omisore had agreed to work together in the re-run

Saraki tweeted on his handle @BukolaSaraki that “We have agreed to work together because our goals are the same. We all want good governance in Osun State. Over the next 24 hours, we will work out the details.

Saraki added that: “Our discussion will definitely be useful for the growth of democracy in our country; the development of Osun State and its people; as well as for future engagements among political players.

He said that they had reached an understanding in principle adding that there would be more talks on Tuesday.

He said that he was now more confident in victory after the meeting than he was before coming for the meeting.

He thanked the family of Sen. Omisore for hosting him and his entourage and for a frutful meeting.

On his part, Omisore tweeted on his handle: “Thank you your excellency the senate president, senator for the visit, together we shall make Osun great again.

Earlier while briefing newsmen said that he had been approached by both the APC and PDP but stressed that the SDP would only work with the party that would align with the manifesto of the SDP.

He said that the interest of SDP was for the wellbeing of the people, stressing further that if not for vote buying employed by both the APC and PDP, they would have lost to SDP.
