ABUJA – Retired Army General and erstwhile Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has called for a united and strong Nigeria as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) edges closer to its elective convention slated tentatively for December 9.
IBB stated this Thursday while playing host to High Chief Raymond, who visited the former to inform him of his aspiration to contest the national chairmanship position of the party.
According to IBB, “Democracy is about choice and only people with vision, courage and strong commitment to the unity of the country can lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
The elder statesman and one of the founding members of PDP, while receiving Dokpesi at his Minna residence said, “Politicians should always have a vision for a united and strong Nigeria as a shining example of democracy in Africa”.
He described the chairmanship aspirant as a strong pillar in the nation’s democratic project, who has played his part courageously and patriotically. “I have blessed High Chief, Dokpesi to pursue the noble objective of contesting for the post of national chairman of the PDP”
On Dokpesi’s entourage were Senators Aniete Okon, Paul Wampana, Yisa Braimoh and Honourable Auwalu Bamanga Tukur among others.
