The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled a total of 1,014,353 votes ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which secured 953,522 votes in the governorship election of Kano state.

The controversy which broke out in Nasarawa local government area of the state delayed the collation by many hours.

Nasiru Gawuna, deputy governor of the state, was arrested for allegedly tearing result sheet of the local government area.

At the end of the collation, the PDP won the local government, polling 54,349 votes to defeat APC which secured 34,297 votes.

Bello Shehu, returning officer of the election, is currently reconciling the figures to know if a winner will be announced or the exercise will be declared inconclusive.
