Ekiti PDP Holds Governorship Primary Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reappointed Senator Walid Jibrin as its Chairman, Board of Trustees.

PDP in a statement on Monday said the decision was taken at a meeting of the board which held on Thursday where Senator Jibrin was reaffirmed chairman of the board.

Prior to his reappointment, Jibrin has served as BOT Chairman in 2013 when he was first elected.

The opposition party also confirmed the appointment of its acting Secretary of the Board, Senator Adolphus Wabara who is also a former Senate President.

Both appointments are to run for five years.

Ahead of the party’s primaries, Jibrin said a committee was also set up to discuss with the 12 presidential aspirants in order to get a candidate of the party.

“As provided in the party constitution, the board is empowered to regulate its proceedings and draw a code of conduct for its members. The board has decided to forward to NWC its full recommendations,” he said.

The BOT chairman also commended Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti from withdrawing from the Presidential race.
