The Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Plateau State, Senator Jeremiah Useni has again reiterated his willingness to offer quality leadership if elected Governor of the State in the March 2, 2019 election saying he is fit and capable to run the affairs of the State.

Useni, 75, spoke on the heels of opposition’s persistent reminder that he is too old for the office stressing, “I am old but not mentally ill and what matters most is the capability of the candidate to deliver good governance to the people.”

Useni, a serving Senator representing Plateau South in the National Assembly maintained he always shed tears whenever he visits the internally displaced persons camps in the State and he is burdened with the fact that Governor Simon Lalong does not tell the truth about the real security situation in the State in order to get help hence his ambition to come into office as Governor to help the people.

Speaking with journalists in Jos, he stressed, “I am completely fit to govern Plateau. What is important to the people of Plateau state is competence and a governor who will serve their interest, we must secure Plateau State, our children must go back to school.

“When I was Minister, there was crisis in the Southern zone. Any time there was killing, I would come round to visit and we made sure that we had peace in the southern zone eventually. The present administration can not claim credit for the peace in that area. I know what I did as a Minister to restore peace in the Southern zone and I am prepared to deploy the same strategy for peace in the entire State if I become Governor.”

He debunked the rumor of divided loyalty between Buhari as his friend and Atiku Abubakar as his Party’s Presidential candidate stating, “There is a line between my friendship to Buhari and my loyalty to my Party, both are two different issues. PDP will win both the Presidential and Governorship elections and I call on the people to continue to support the PDP and its candidates at all levels to enable us to achieve victory.”
