ABUJA-THE Force Headquarters, Monday, paraded arrested three of the five suspects who invaded the farm house of Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in December, last year.
The suspects had on December 12, allegedly invaded the farm house of Magu at Barkin Uza Karshi area of Abuja, killing a police Sergeant identified As Sergeant Haruna Sarkisian, on guard duty on the fateful day and carted away two AK47 rifles belonging to the police personnel.
Two of the suspects said to be personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF personnel, who were not paraded, according to the Force Headquarters, were currently facing disciplinary action with the Nigeria Air Force.
Force Headquarters’ Deputy Public Relations Officer, Aremu Adeniran, who paraded the suspects identified as Inalegwu Omikpa, 36 years old gang leader;Francis Ochife, 38 years old and a dismissed NAF personnel, Vincent Michael, listed items recovered from them to include two AK47 rifles said to belong to the Nigeria Police, mobile phones, two magazines and 60 rounds of AK47 ammunition.
According to Mr Adediran, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, consequent upon the development, “directed the IGP Intelligence Response Team to carry out a discreet investigation into the invasion, arrest and bring perpetrators to justice.”
The principal suspects, he said, were “arrested by the police team in their various criminal hideouts after an unrelenting trail on the perpetrators of the unfortunate incident by the personnel of the IGP Intelligence Response Team.
” Two Police AK47 rifles carted away from the slain police sergeant and one other police personnel on duty were recovered from the possession of a member of the gang, Inalegwu Omikpa, in his village home in Otukpo, Benue State, “he said.
“They have confessed to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crime. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the gang still at large. All suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation,” he added.
Mr Adeniran said “the renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to guarantee protection of lives and property across the country remains unequivocal and unwavering.”
