Owerri – Scores of youths yesterday protested at the Imo state police command, ahead of the supplementary elections in the state.
The youths who are from Ikeduru local government area, said that they wanted to be assured of adequate security in the forthcoming Saturday’s supplementary elections in Ikeduru as well as calling for the arrest of the sponsor of the suspected bombers who were arrested in the last election in the area.

It should be recalled that, about 40 booths were said to have been cancelled in Ikeduru, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, during the last governorship/House of Assembly election.
It was in the same Ikeduru, collation center, at central school, Iho that it was reported three persons suspected to be bombers came with explosives device at the collation center. They were arrested by the military in the area at the time of collation excercise.
However, they also demanded for the arrest of the sponsor of the suspected bombers, according to them was an Ikeduru son.
As result of this development, the youths said that they were afraid of similar thing happening in the Saturday’s election.
According to one of their leaders, Samuel Nwokocha, said: “We want security to be guaranteed in the election that will hold on Saturday in Ikeduru.
“We are afraid what happened last time and we are not happy that some people were mentioned as those who sponsored some boys to come and bomb the collation center, the person is still working freely. We want him to be arrested.
Also speaking to Vanguard was another youth leader, Ahamefule Bright, “Why we are here is to call on the police to arrest the sponsor of suspected bombers who came to take away the lives of Ikeduru, that came out to vote.
“How can somebody’s name be mentioned by the arrested suspects and the police allowed the person to be moving about as if he did not do anything. Such person should not be allowed to near the area because we do not know what his planing now.
“What we also need is total security of the areas cancelled. We are not ready to experience any bloodshed or lost of lives in this Saturday’s election.”
