Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has urged the Muslim Ummah in the country to use the 30 days Ramadan fasting to offer supplications to God for total restoration of peace and unity in the country.

He noted that the challenges faced by citizens due to dwindling economic fortunes amidst competing needs makes the Ramadan period a wonderful opportunity for the Moslem faithful to cry out to God for His divine intervention.

Lalong in a press statement through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Emmanuel Nanle, said the commencement of the year 2018 fasting indicated that Nigeria has hope ahead of its challenges.

He stated that fasting and prayer brings God’s nature and way of life to mankind and enjoined all Muslim to show love to one another including those of other faith as an expression of the life and virtues of the Holy Prophet which distinguished him as a Messenger of Allah.

He added that when the world stays in peace; development is attained and freedom becomes a commodity for all.

The governor also called on the religious leaders to preach the message of reconciliation, peace and tolerance to the followers and called for prayer for leaders.

He assures citizens of the State that Government will continue to promote peaceful coexistence and uphold freedom of religious practice.
