Reactions trail Supreme Court judgment on APGA leadership tussle

Reactions have continued to trail the Supreme Court judgment that put a final nail on the protracted leadership dispute in the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA.

Since last Friday that the judgment was handed down, it has been a celebration galore within the camp of the Chief Victor Oye-led National leadership of APGA, even as political watchers and pundits have continued to speak on the fortunes of the party, as 2019 general election draws near.

Reacting to the judgment, a former member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Mbazulike- Amechi described the supreme court judgment of July 13, 2018, which has laid to rest the leadership crisis in APGA, as another resounding victory for Democracy and Rule of law.

Hon Mbazulike-Amechi said the judgment has further strengthened the party’s enviable position as the fastest growing (single) political party in Nigeria, with clear- cut principles and ideology.

He congratulated the Governor of Anambra State, who is also the BOT chairman of the party, Chief Willie Obiano, the National chairman, Chief Victor Oye and entire National Working Committee of APGA, as well as all party faithful in Nigeria and in Diaspora, on this landmark judicial victory.

In statement signed by his media Aid, Mr. Ejiofo Umegbogu, the former  legislator stated that as a lawyer with over 25 years experience in legal practice both in Nigeria and in the U.S, He has always believed that the court is the bastion of justice and rule of law, in any democratic society.

According to the statement, “The judiciary has once again lived up to this expectation by restoring sanity in our democratic process.”

Hon. Mbazulike- Amechi who is aspiring to represent Anambra South zone in the senate come 2019, under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, ceased the opportunity to urged the “party hierarchy to see this judgment as an opportunity to strengthen the party’s position in South-East region and beyond, as we gear up for the 2019 general election”.

In his contribution, an Abuja-based Real Estate Mogul, Mr Uchenna Eleodummuo said the recent Supreme Court decision on the leadership of the party would help to strengthen the party’s position as not only the fastest growing political party in Nigeria, but also the third major political party in Nigeria.

Speaking with newsmen at his home town in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, of Anambra State, Mr Eleodummuo said the judgement has solidified the position of Chief Victor Oye-led National leadership of APGA; describing it as a great moral booster needed to take the party to the next level.

He maintained that the judgment, couple with recent defection of some political big wigs into the party, APGA would certainly achieve massive victory come 2019 general election.

Mr. Eleodummuo, who is one of the major promoters of the party within  Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, urged all party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of the party.

He said “by this judicial victory, all distractions and diversionary antics have been put to rest and therefore all efforts should now be geared towards achieving massive electoral victory for APGA, in the forth coming 2019 general elections”.

Similarly, a political Stalwart in Ihiala local government area of the state, Mr Chris Ezenyimulu described it as “a quantum leap in Nigeria’s democratic process.”

He commended the Nigerian judiciary for once again restoring sanity on our political system,and task politicians to always respect and explore party’s internal disputes resolution mechanisms, in order not to heat up the system and over-labour the judiciary with unnecessary litigations.

According to Mr Ezenyimulu, “This judgment serves as a tonic needed to take the party to the next level, and strengthen its position as the third largest political party in Nigeria”.

Mr. Chris Ezenyimulu who hopes to represent the people of Ihiala Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives come 2019, appealed to members of the party to work harder, in order to translate this judicial victory to electoral victory.”
