Media reports are often awash with negative reports on the Nigeria Police. The untowards acts include killing drivers in the process of money extortion, aiding and abbeting kidnapping, armed robberies, wilful killings of innocent citizens.

The misdeameanours are legion. It is becoming very worrisome that these mischiefs are almost becoming almost the rule rather than the exceptions as concerned citizens read or hear about the condemnable acts on a daily basis.

It is not that the authorities concerned employ ‘ siddon de look” attitude, as we sometimes read about sanctions taken against erring police officers irrespective of rank or status.

The fact that such punitive measures serve as no lesson, one would therefore recommend that, no stone should be left unturned in redeeming the battered image of the Nigerian Police.
