Senate President Bukola Saraki made it to the Senate to preside over Tuesday’s plenary despite earlier being barricaded by police on his street in Abuja.
Early this morning, Lake Chad Crescent, the street leading to Saraki’s home in Maitama district, Abuja was barricaded by police, according to tweets posted by Bankole Omisore, the aide of the Senate President.
However, at Tuesday’s plenary which was presided over by Saraki, 15 Senators belonging to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, defected to the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The defections were announced by Saraki during the plenary.
According to Guardian, Saraki is also rumoured to have concluded his defection plans from APC sometime this week, a move that would leave the leadership of the Senate in the hands of the PDP.
Below are their names of the decamping Senators:
Senator Shitu Ubali
Senator Isa Misau
Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso
