IT has been declared that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is not in any shaken by the recent declaration of intention to re-contest the presidency come 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari under the ruling APC just as it said that the party will soon become the rallying point for Nigerian politicians thereby emerging as the party to beat come 2019 general elections.
The declaration was made by the Interim National Secretary of the party, Shehu Musa Gabam while fielding questions from newsmen in Tilden Fulani, Bauchi Monday.
He said that from all indications Nigerians have come to realize that both the PDP and the ruling APC have failed and therefore need a different platform to repair the country.
Musa Gabam added that the SDP is not in anyway bothered about the ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari to re-contest in 2019 but is worried that the APC the APC has failed Nigerians woefully as not a single of its campaign promises has been fulfilled in the last three years.
While lamenting the present insecurity in the country following the inability of the ruling APC, the SDP scribe further said that the economic situation in the country is not giving Nigerians any hope of survival but assured that the SDP will address all the issues when it finally wrestled power from the APC come 2019.
He added that with the irredeemable posture of the PDP coupled with the failure of the ruling APC, the SDP has a better chance to put things right come 2019 calling on Nigerians to rally round the party.
The National Secretary of the SDP stated further that, “the SDP is an old wine that is coming back in a new bottle in order to attract the attention of the people. You know that the old wine is better than the new one but it just needs to be repackaged in order to make it more attractive to the people”.
He then assured that very soon the SDP structure at all levels will be put in place so that it will be able to start political activities in full swing pointing out that the party will not in anyway impose leadership on the people no matter the temptation to do so.
