Security measures have been beefed up in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital and its environs, ahead of the burial of the Emir of Lafia, Dr Isa Mustapha, Agwai 1.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports on Friday that, officers and men of the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies were seen stationed at strategic locations to ensure smooth ceremony.
More security personnel were also deployed in Akwanga, Keffi and Karu Local Government Areas of the state.
The monarch, who died on Jan.10 in Abuja at 84, is to be buried immediately after the Friday prayer.
Mustapha-Agwai ascended the throne in May 1974 and was survived by three wives and two children. Until his death, he was the 16th Emir of Lafia and celebrated his 44th anniversary on the throne last year.
He was a former Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) and the Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State among other appointments, until his demise.
