YENAGOA— BAYELSA State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused Governor Seriake Dickson of intimidating chieftains of the party in the state and contractors to Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, over security contracts.

In a statement yesterday in Yenagoa, the state APC Chairman and Secretary, Mr Johnathan Amos and Alabo Martins accused the state governor of putting undue pressure on the management of NAOC to withdraw contracts awarded to members of the party.

They said: “In the recent past, Governor Dickson has held series of meetings with the company, claiming that by retaining our party members as contractors, Agip was funding an alternate government in the state. Agip has no issue with our members whose companies are delivering services to it.

“Companies owned by members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are also contractors to the company. We are at a loss as to why the governor would want to choose clients for a multinational oil company.

Bayelsa State belongs to all of us, and no one should be denied business opportunities on the basis of party affiliations. The APC in Bayelsa State will like to advise the management of Agip to stay out of politics and work with clients that meet their professional standards.”
