– Now that the Sambisa forest has been captured, the Shehu of Borno has given traditional rulers and district heads a new order
Traditional rulers in Borno state are now to help identify fleeing members of the Boko Haram terrorist sect and hand them over to security agencies.
This follows an order from the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkenemi, to the traditional rulers and all the district heads in the 27 local government areas of the state.
The thanked the Nigerian military for helping to route the terrorists from the Sambisa forest in the state and pleaded with the federal government to ensure that all the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) are screened before returning them home.
The federal government has announced that all IDPs camp in the state would be closed before May 29 this year.
The respected monarch said: “I am using this opportunity to appeal for the screening of all the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) before their return to respective communities so as to fish out bad eggs among them or even terrorists hiding in their midst.
“Security is a collective responsibility hence, I call on everyone to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious elements or movements to the security agents for prompt action.”
