Sokoto moves to centralise motor parks

Sokoto State Government has commenced plans to centralise all units of motor parks in Sokoto metropolis.

The Director-General of the Central Market, Alhaji Abdullahi Bafarawa, told newsmen, yesterday, after a meeting with the operators of inter-state motor parks across the city, that adequate space had been created at the Central Motor Park to ensure the success of the exercise.

He said: “We intimated the operators of the plan to relocate the motor parks that spread across the city to the Central Motor Park for easy coordination. We will easily keep vigil on their activities, enhance the security of lives and property as well as enhance internally-generated revenue.”

Mr. Bayo Ayodele, Manager of Cross Country Transport Company, res-ponding on behalf of other operators, commended the state government for the planned relocation, saying “we will cooperate and give you the necessary support to ensure its success.”
