After about seven years of handing over schools back to their original owners, the first set of students of St Theresa Girls Grammar School, STGGS, Ughelli, Delta State has been graduated by the college with the school principal, Rev Sis Theresa Ocloo, eliciting a sense of fulfillment and promising to raise the school to world class standard.

The graduation ceremony, which held at the school main hall, had the school workforce, parents and other well-wishers in attendance.

Addressing the grandaunds at the capacity filled hall, the guest speaker, Dame C.B. Iyaruwe, who was a principal of the school, admonished them on post secondary school life and how to be successful at it.

She said: “As you are graduating today, it should register in your mind that you have just started a journey that has no end. You should gather the courage to face the wider world into which you are going and be good ambassadors of the school.

“Never indulge in social vices, never indulge in cultism. You should endeavour to resist whatever could lead you into teenage pregnancy or any other form of immorality.”

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mr Atake Augustine expressed gratitude to God for seeing the children through the secondary education life just as he expressed satisfaction on the teaching standard and conducive learning atmosphere.

He commended the school authority, especially the principal, for inculcating high moral, spiritual and academic standards in their children and charged the school to maintain it.

The old students association of the school with Chief Olori as the home president has vowed to continually give their support to the college even as they donated cash  and a laptop to the most outstanding and best graduating student of the year.
