Super Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby is confident that the defending champions can silence the Queen Scorpions of Gambia in their backyard today in Banjul .

The eight-time continental champions exempted from the preliminary stages of the African women Championship (AWC) qualifiers, will trade tackles with the Queen Scorpions at the Bakau Independence Stadium.

With a mixture of home based fire brands and experienced foreign professional strikers like Desire Oparanozie, Asisat Oshoala and Francesca Ordega , Falcons will approach today’s match with their usual ruthless manner.

Gambia, buoyant from her elimination of Burkina Faso 5-3 on penalties, will hinge her luck on support from the home crowd to survive the onslaught from the star studded Nigerian side.

Nigeria host, the return leg on Monday, 11 June 2018 in Lagos with the winner making it to the final tournament of the Total Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The final tournament was scheduled for 17 November to 1 December 2018 in the Ghanaian cities of Accra and Cape Coast. The top three teams will represent Africa at the FIFA women’s World Cup France 2019.
