Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

The suspects are the man who reportedly hired the assailants and the one who is said to have pulled the trigger.

The Nation reports that Badeh was killed on Keffi-Abuja road following the information that he had some cash on him to pay for additional farmland. He was on his way from his farm.


Nigeria’s military, in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, yesterday confirmed that about 13 personnel and a police officer were killed in an ambush laid by Boko Haram insurgents on Damaturu-Maiduguri road on Monday.

The statement noted that the military personnel and the police officer were killed while extricating themselves from the ambush.

Nwachukwu said a soldier was killed in another encounter with terrorists at Kureta in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe.


Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said President Muhammadu Buhari would not have won the 2015 presidential election without his support.

He said, “Buhari will continue to  address me as ‘sir.’ In 2015, if I didn’t support Buhari, he wouldn’t have won the election.

“I have what it takes to correct him.  Nigeria should not be in the position we are today. Nigeria can be better. God has given us all that we need.

“I am qualified to speak against Buhari.  One, I have done it before. Two, I have shed my blood for this country. Why can’t I speak about what is best for this country. I am doubly qualified to do that.”


Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun, have urged the Federal Government and the management of the institution to provide more accommodation for them on the campus.

The call for more hostel accommodation follows reports of incessant robbery attacks on students residing off the campus.


The State Security Service Wednesday, announced the transfer to the police of the orderly attached to Aisha Buhari to the police.

Sani Baba-Inna, a chief superintendent of police, served as aide de camp to the First Lady until he was arrested in September for allegedly using his office and Mrs Buhari’s name for influence peddling to the tune of N2.5 billion.

“He has been handed over to the police for further administrative action,” Peter Afunanya, a spokesperson for the SSS, said in a statement.
