Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar returned to Nigeria on Sunday morning from a trip to Dubai.

In a tweet, Atiku said he was subjected to an intimidating search by security agents.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, on Sunday in an interview with journalists in Otukpo, Benue, said the use of chemicals for food preservation and fruit ripening was detrimental to human health and the environment.

“Sniper is very dangerous; people also use carbide to ripen bananas and some other fruits; people do all kinds of things. Suddenly, people are developing different diseases, something is wrong,’’ he said.

As reported by The Nation, there are indications that after the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole refused a $500,000 bribe cash from a governor, he became a target.

The report says the governor wanted the APC chairman to adopt his anointed governorship candidate but, Oshiomhole insisted on applying the guidelines of the party for primaries.

Also, there were indications that the APC leadership tried its best to strike a fair deal with Governor Rochas Okorocha on a 55-45 per cent basis. The Imo governor, however, opted for 100 per cent concession which was unacceptable to APC.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally submitted the report of its investigation into fraud allegations against a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.

The investigation report submitted to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, by Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, ‘supported’ Lawal’s innocence claim.

The report also includes draft charges the EFCC considered appropriate for the ex-SGF to face in the event the federal government decides to give him the opportunity to clear his name in the court of law.

State Executive Council (SEC) of the PDP has reaffirmed former Governor Ayodele Fayose as leader of the party, declaring the Gboyega Oguntuase-led executive as the only recognised organ of the party in the state.

The caucus meeting was called consequent upon the controversies over a meeting held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in which the Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi was pronounced as leader of the party and a call was made for the dissolution of the state Exco.
