GEOGRAPHICALLY speaking, 2017 is not a leap year. But just ask device maker, Innjoo and you’d learn very quickly that the term transcends geography. For the company, Leap is a device, one that combines style, quality and effectiveness with a pocket friendliness that the average Nigerian seeks.

Innjoo’s country manager, Mr. Rakesh Rocque, at press conference to herald the launch of the event held in Lagos recently, said: “This device has a revolutionary design, bringing all the qualities of a tablet into the personal computer genre. It comes with a 10,000 MilliAmp battery that can last for ten hours with normal use, and for over six hours with video use. It can also be charged in the car or with a power bank using your normal USB cord.”

Rocque went on to explain that the device comes with a Windows 10 operating system, and a one-month free trial of Microsoft Office applications. The Bluetooth and 4G enabled Innjoo Leap also comes with a 14.1 inch display, two USB ports and weighs between 1.2 to 1.6 kilograms. “With all these features, how much do you think the device would cost?” the Innjoo Nigeria boss asked a room full of reporters?

Rocque, who went on the reveal that the device would be in the market from this weekend, would cost between N90,000 and N100,000 depending on the price of the dollar. This is about forty percent less than the average cost of personal computers in the Nigerian market today.

What might seem like a downside, however, is the storage space on the device. With a 32B EMMC and a 2 GB DDR3L, some users might be worried that the space will not be enough to meet their needs. However, the Innjoo boss allayed such fears.
