Entertainment is an art and a form of amusement.  Little wonder that many artistes often cross from their original field and venture into acting- all to various levels of success. Here are ten stars that have featured in Nollywood.

Simi

Off the back of her successful album and girl-next-door persona, Simi has been tapped for a role in Kunle Afolayan’s forthcoming movie Mokalik. It has been apparent from her videos, Soldier for example, that she has some acting skills.

Peter Okoye

Even if the group has been dissolved, this man is one of our favourite twins ever. After all the years of sold-out shows and albums, Peter Okoye of PSquare with several albums was cast in the forthcoming movie Lion Heart, directed by top Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji who also made her directorial debut with the movie.

Falz

Is there anything Falz cannot do? He asked himself on a song with Davido and Olamide. Which other musician do you know that won an AMVCA? Falz’s character as Sege in Jenifa’s Diary was unforgettable. Surely fans would be looking forward to seeing him again in a movie…

Banky W

Fans didn’t know it at the time but Banky’s life was imitating art when he played the lead character in The Wedding Party. The movie was so great that they got paid twice- and then did a sequel. Obviously, he’s been taking a few lessons from Mrs W.

Chidinma

Everyone’s favourite Chidinma aka Miss Kedike launched into the music industry after she emerged winner of the reality show MTN Project Fame. She also made her big break to the big screen with the movie – The Bridge. She played the lead role alongside other top Nollywood actors.

Phyno

Phyno’s career may have started as a producer, rapper and of late- singer; but he also has made the transition into an actor in Genevieve Nnaji’s movie Lion Heart.

Davido

In 2015, Davido got a minor role in the movie John Zerebe. But when you consider his several music videos and love for Snapchat, it’s clear that he’s camera ready.

Ice Prince

Ice Prince also broke into Nollywood with the movie Heart of Gold in 2013. He also starred in an edition of MTV Shuga recently.

Tiwa Savage

Mavin Records first lady, Tiwa Savage, has also featured been in the Nollywood space with the series MTV Shuga and a cameo on Jenifa’s Diary.
