The very problem – that one that came in a German man called Loris Karius – which cost Liverpool and the English Premier League, EPL, the Champions League title looks solved at the moment with the Reds’ capture of Brazilian No. 1, Alisson Becker.

With the completion of the switch from Italian Serie A to EPL, the 25-year-old Brazilian shotstopper became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world with his transfer fee of £67m.

As the summer transfer window is still young, that record could still well be broken if the much talked about transfer speculation involving Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Real Madrid becomes reality.

Many believe Chelsea have resigned to losing their Belgian shotstopper even though the club is reluctant to let him leave. However, in the wake of this, the Blues are believed to be in hot pursuit of Leicester City’s No. 1, Kasper Schmeichel.

Schmeichel, 31, joining Chelsea looks even more likely with Leicester’s capture of Liverpool third choice, Danny Ward. However, few believe Ward was signed to serve as competition for Schmeichel, and not a replacement.

While Chelsea have been linked to a host of top players, they’ve only managed to complete one signing, Brazilian born Italian international, Jorginho, from Napoli earlier in the week.

This is a little disappointing considering Chelsea’s poor performance in last summer’s transfer market which was rightly followed by a dismal title defence season that saw them miss out on Champions League. Taking this into account, one would have expected Chelsea to be one of the most, if not the most active team in this summer’s transfer market.

This week has seen very little completed transfers amongst the top clubs in Europe. What we’ve seem so much of are transfer rumours.

Hopefully in the next week, a number of these rumours will happen for real.
