Two arrested for allegedly killing neighbour in Ogun

ABEOKUTA—Men of Ogun State Police Command   have  arrested two men for allegedly killing their neighbour, Happy Patrick, stole his Bajaj motorcycle and disposed his body  in a nearby bush.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, said the two suspects,  Patrick Udom, 35, from Akwa Ibom State and James Roland, 25, from Delta State have been arrested.

Oyeyemi said they were arrested following a complaint by the elder brother of the victim, one Moses Utuede, who reported at Obanlende Divisional headquarters that his younger brother left home around 7 am on May 15, 2018 and had not  returned  with his motorcycle.

He said: “On the strength of the report, the DPO SP Jaiye Richard, detailed detectives to embark on full scale investigation to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the victim.

“Investigation later revealed that the victim was last seen with Patrick Udom, leading to his arrest.

“After a thorough investigation, the said Patrick Udom confessed to have killed the victim and ably assisted by Roland James.

“He stated further that the victim who lived in the same community with them was killed because they wanted to steal his motorcycle, which they actually did after killing him.

“The body of the deceased, which was concealed in a sack and threw in a nearby bush, has been recovered.

“Also recovered from them are the two cutlasses used to kill the deceased, one hammer and a digger.

“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police,  Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence for discrete investigation and prosecution of the suspects.”
