Nigerian referees were conspicuously missing on the list of match officials for the forthcoming U-20 World Cup in Poland 2019, SportingSun reported.

The world football governing body, FIFA however, listed 27 referees and 42 assistant referees for tournament. Twenty-one video assistant referees (VARs) were also appointed.

Four centre referees and six assistant referees were picked on the continent. The referees are: Ghorbal Mustapha (Algeria), Ndiaye Maguette (Senegal) and Ngambo Ndala (Democratic Republic of Congo).

The assistant referees are: Ahmed Kamel Ahmed Mahmoud (Egypt), Gourari Mokane (Algeria), Noupue Elvis (Cameroon), Riama Seydou (Burkina Faso), Safari Olivier (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Amaldine Soulaimane 

The officials’ preparations, according to FIFA, will focus on a wide range of topics, such as their reading of the game and football understanding, teamwork and the importance of obtaining the best position or angle – being in the right place at the right time – to make the correct decision.

All of these aspects reflect the FIFA Refereeing philosophy and are key to the officials’ performance, and as such, they are vital in order to achieve consistency and uniformity at such a high level of the game.
