Nsukka-The people of Agu-Umabor, Breme, Eha-Ndiagu, Ezebuanagu and Eha-Azuabor autonomous communities in Eha-Alumona, Nsukka Local Government Area have heaved a sigh of relief as Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has promised to construct the roads linking them.

The five agrarian communities are largely cut off from their local government headquarters by erosion and the available roads are only passable by motorcycles especially during the rains. The road had been cut off for over 50 years. However, Governor Ugwuanyi’s recent visit to the area rekindled their hope as he said that the request for road construction was being handled through the state budget.

The announcement sparked jubilation among the thousands of enthusiastic crowd that attended the endorsement rally for his second tenure at the Premier Primary School, Eha Alumona. In their address of welcome, the people of the area had listed the Umabor-Agu Umabor road, Eha-Eha Ndiagu-Mbu-Ikem road and the Agu Umabor-Breme-Ezebunagu-Eha Azuabor road as their only needs from the governor who is from a neighbouring town, Orba in Udenu Local Government Area.

The people said that the residents of the five autonomous communities were finding it difficult to ferry their produce to the cities and lamented that vegetables, fruits and other early agricultural produce were wasting in the area. While assuring the people on the road construction, Governor Ugwuanyi commended them for living in peace and coming together to organise a huge civic reception and endorsement rally for him.
