STATE Houses of Assembly speakers have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for handing the reign of power to his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, while he  embarked on medical vacation to the United Kingdom, saying his action was a strict adherence to the provisions of the country’s constitution.

This was even as they hailed the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo on the way and manner he has since handled the affairs of the nation in the absence of his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari.

The state assembly speakers, who conveyed their appreciation of the president’s action in a communique issued in Abuja, yesterday, after their meeting in the nation’s capital, insisted that the president’s action pictured him as an ardent respecter of the nation’s laws.

Reading the communique to newsmen at their well attended meeting in Abuja, their chairman who doubles as Speaker of Kebbi House of Assembly, Abdulmumuni Ismaila Kamba, said they were happy on how the Acting President has performed the functions of the president so far .

They, however, commended security agencies for the roles they played in restoring peace not only in Southern Kaduna but also the North East where insurgency once held sway.

“The conference has taken cognizance of the concerted efforts made by the security agents throughout the federation with particular reference to the North East geo-political zone in restoring peace and therefore commends their heroism, professionalism and sense of patriotism in all their endeavours, “they said.

The State Houses of Assembly speakers, who said they have been briefed on the progress made so far in the ongoing constitutional amendment, therefore urged stakeholders in the process to ensure that the amendment was concluded within a reasonable time.
