The Nigerian Institute of Building has endorsed the Royal brand of tiles and allied products from the West African Ceramics Limited, the company has said.

The firm stated that the endorsement was officially presented to the management team of WACL during the NIOB Extraordinary General Meeting and Fellow’s investiture in Abuja, recently.

The Chairman, Endorsement Committee, NIOB, Mr. Olufemi Akinsola, was quoted in a statement by WACL to have said that the endorsement of the Royal brand of tiles and allied products was well deserved and followed due process spanning over a year.

He said that his committee conducted series of tours to the manufacturing complex of the company located in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, with the aim of assessing the manufacturing process, health, safety and the environment, quality and composition of raw materials and many other factors.

Akinsola added that the brand was rated 30 per cent qualified at the first assessment and by the second exercise, the rating had climbed up to 70 per cent.

He said, “Further assessment revealed deliberate adherence to strict codes, improvement of production process and factory floor health and safety. This endorsement is a mark of credence backed by the integrity of the NIOB, which builders, architects, dealers and other stakeholders can rely on for the assurance of quality tiles and allied products obtainable in developed societies.

“As a prerequisite to an endorsement by the NIOB, the brand being considered for endorsement must have secured the mark of quality certificate from the Nigerian Industrial Standards.”

The General Manager, West African Ceramics Limited, Mr. Bhaskar Rao, said the NIOB was an institution of high repute and an approval from it was a welcome development.

“Receiving a mark of approval from this institute is a feather to our corporate hat and an honour we cannot be thankful enough for,” he said.
