A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Chief Olajumoke Ogunkeyede, has ruled out the chance of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) producing the next governor of the state.
Ogunkeyede premised this assertion on the achievements of incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola in social and physical infrastructure, education, among other sectors, which he said would guarantee that APC produces Aregbesola’s successor.
He brushed aside reports of non-performance of Aregbesola as over bloated and orchestrated by the opposition to malign the incumbent’s strides.
“I don’t see how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can win Osun State in 2018 going by what Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been able to do. Whatever you read about Aregbesola is either one percent correct or not true at all because he has committed his life to changing the lives of the people of Osun State for the better.”
“Consider improvement in infrastructure, both social and physical, yet there is a lot of hue and cry in the media which are orchestrated by the PDP. Some individuals are paid to always talk at Aregbesola but truth will always prevail. Many convinced others to doubt Obafemi Awolowo’s credibility but, at last, he has been vindicated. 20 to 25 years from now, people will praise Aregbesola.”
“Aregbesola’s shoe is too big for just anyone to fit in. He has done tremendously. Anyone who wants to take over from Aregbesola must be serious minded, very hardworking. He is not used to failure.”
“He could have made some honest mistakes but it is not as bad as what we have in most parts of the nation. He is committed, doesn’t have a social life. He is sleeping and thinking Osun.”
“It is quite unfortunate we lost the senatorial election but it was some disgruntled elements who felt that they were not getting what they desire. People obliterate Aregbesola because he has not allowed them to embezzle anymore. I feel sorry for anyone who wants to take over from Aregbesola,” Ogunkeyede said.
Meanwhile, Ogunkeyede has said that calls for restructuring were long overdue to correct lopsidedness in the structure of the country.
He however noted that while regionalism was desirable, it should be done with all sense of honesty and sincere desire for the development of the country.
